Solo Joe: A Rock Climbing Video Game
New DEMO IS HERE!
New Rock Climbing Game (version 4.2 uploaded 4/14/2008 4:00am EST)
No climbing partner? Weather sucks? No rocks? No matter what the reason, Solo Joe provides an entertaining distraction when ‘real’ climbing is not an option. This RPG provides a virtual environment that mimics many aspects of the sport, including trad climbing, sport climbing, and free soloing. With challenging gear placements and a variety of crux types, each of the nearly 200 routes is its own adventure. Level up your character; learn important skills; build an impressive rack; and tackle progressively harder routes.
This dynamic game is easily updatable, and future releases include new characters, cruxes, and routes. Turn your character into a world class climbing machine, and nab a first ascent on one of the game’s many projects.

Beta Test:
Solo Joe is a rock climbing computer game that is being developed. Currently, the demo is the only version available for download. It works on Windows; however, I do not know the exact range as it has only been tested on XP and Vista. Cross platform compatibility may be in the future, but I am concentrating on finishing the game first. The above download is for the beta (test) version of the game. It is not complete. There are known issues. And, it does not include all of the game functionality. As I resolve issues, I will regularly post updates. In addition to the normal bug fixes, this version will include more climbs.
This game has no 'in-game' tutorial, and there is a learning curve. The manual will help you get started. If you are experiencing further problems please refer to the following page Frequently Asked Questions (last updated 6/9/2008). This page outlines the testing history, and highlights common concerns.
This game is very dynamic, and will continue to evolve beyond the full release.
Your character information can be saved and uploaded into future releases of this game, including Competition Modules. There are no limitations. Projected releases include: new characters, more climbs, new cruxes, non-player characters, and projects (get the first ascent and name your new super route).
Note to current testers: characterdata files from version 1.6 and older will not be compatible with future releases. There are major changes that have to be made. My apologies for all of you who found the cheat. Your 5.15 characters will not be compatible with future releases.
